What is Wet Rot?

Wet rot is a catchall term used to describe a large variety of different fungal species which can attack timber in any environment where there is moisture present for long periods. Wet rot can cause significant structural damage.

Wet rot can be spotted in its early stages and be treated easily. When we treat wet rot, we remove the sources of moisture from the area, and identify the timber that has been affected.

Then we remove and replace the affected timber. The wood we use to replace the timber is specially treated to prevent a repeat occurrence. After this is done we aim to improve the dryness of the area and provide good ventilation to the area. This is done to prevent any recurring problems.
